Lily Sage (they/she) is an artist and funeral director (yes, a licensed mortician) who works in plaster, oils, and watercolor. Lily's sculptures are primarily made of found objects and plaster. They wire each sculpture by hand. Lily uses natural objects sourced from their immediate environment or collected and shipped back to their home-base in NYC. These days, Lily is inspired by candlelight, squash, identity, and impermanence.
Artist's quote: "I try hard not to take my work too seriously. I feel most successful when the things I make conjure up a giggle or a chuckle, followed by the gauzy awe that makes you want to stay and steep like tea, just sort of basking in something that feels warm"
Lily's fiancée, Camille; fancy pumpkins, water towers, pomegranates, marble walls, haystacks, Christmas trees
"Landscapes are like the blue cheese of painting. I really want to like them, but I guess I'm just not old enough yet. I didn't use to like tomatoes or Monet, but here we are!"
